Electra Metropolis was certified with LEED v3 for New Construction & Major Renovation, thus becoming the first LEED Hotel in Greece. The 13,000 m2 project included the major renovation and conservation of the existing previous office building in the center of Athens.
The project team employed a variety of strategies to reduce energy and water use, create a healthy indoor environment, rationalize resource demand and implement innovative strategies. Electra Metropolis is a landmark project and a pioneer in the LEED for Hospitality sector in a country with a very intensive hospitality sector. With the demand for green hotels and sustainable operations, the hotel did participate in the global transformation of the hotel industry towards greener approaches on an asset level strengthening its existing value.
