DCarbon at USGBC Convergence 2016
Convergence is the annual gathering of the USGBC community and took place on June 21-23, 2016 at Jacksonville, Florida. It’s where hundreds of passionate change makers and diverse partners unite to foster innovative and sustainable solutions for the world’s most pressing issues. Convergence illuminates opportunities for global, regional and local impact. Associated professionals gather to fuel their inspiration and dedication to charting a course for the future of our buildings, cities, and communities to build leaders, build markets and measure impact.
Convergence attendees are members of the USGBC community, including thought leaders and change agents, USGBC Board and Advisory Council members, community volunteers and staff, LEED Steering Committee members and TAG members, LEED Fellows, employees of platinum and gold member organizations, national partners, Emerging Professionals and students.
DCarbon was represented by Charalampos Giannikopoulos who is a member of the Location & Planning LEED Technical Advisory Group.

DCarbon joins USGBC LEED Technical Advisory Group
As of January 1st, 2016 Charalampos Giannikopoulos for and on behalf of DCarbon has joined the LEED Location & Planning Technical Advisory Group.
The U.S. Green Building Council’s Expression of Interest Period for LEED committee members was open from July 1,2015 through August 14, 2015 and was extremely competitive. All applicants have undergone a thorough review process and the LEED Steering Committee and Executive Committee of the Board of Directors have approved 48 candidates to join LEED committees.
Under the direct management of the LEED Technical Committee, Technical Advisory Groups (TAGs) recommend technical solutions to rating system development and maintenance issues. The groups provide a consistent source of technical advice to LEED committees and working groups regarding credit and prerequisite improvement and supporting tool development.
Technical Advisory Groups are structured to include expertise for specific technical issues: location and planning, sustainable sites, water efficiency, energy and atmosphere, materials and resources and indoor environmental quality
The Technical Advisory Groups (TAGs) are charged with providing a consistent source of technical advice to LEED committees and working groups with respect to credit and prerequisite improvement and supporting tool development; the TAGs ensure that the integrity of LEED is grounded on technical and scientific considerations of the highest quality. These committees also work on credit and prerequisite development based on their specific areas of expertise.
the Green Industry Platform
The Green Industry Platform is a global, high-level, multi-stakeholder partnership and forum to catalyze, mobilize and mainstream action on Green Industry around the world. It provides a framework to bring governmental, business and civil society leaders together to secure concrete commitments and action in support of the Green Industry agenda, i.e. greening the manufacturing process and creating green industries for production of goods and services for domestic use or export.
The Green Industry Platform offers signatories a global public-private partnership that has been established with the aim of providing a framework for participants to take concrete and measurable action to advance green industry at all levels. In the context of the Platform, ‘Green Industry’ is broadly defined as industrial production that operates within the carrying capacity of supporting eco-systems and can improve the quality of human life.
As of September 2015 DCarbon joines the Green Industy Platform. The participation of DCarbon in this initiative will help drive forward the global push toward inclusive and sustainable industrial development. Sustainable development is the principal objective of all countries, and that industrialdevelopment and innovation are critical prerequisites to reducing poverty, creatingdecent jobs, ensuring food, energy and water security, delivering sustainable goodsand services worldwide, and raising living standards for all.

World Green Building Council Leadership Awards
The WorldGBC Europe Regional Leadership Awards promote leadership and inspire best practice in green building policy, construction projects and corporate initiatives. Winners demonstrate why green business is good for our planet, our people and our industry.
Awards are granted in three categories:
Leadership in Building Design & Performance: Recognising sustainable building projects.
Business Leadership in Sustainability: Celebrating companies with sustainable core business models.
Public Sector Leadership in Green Building: Public sector led sustainability policy or initiatives.
HAEF Preschool & Kindergarten was nominated for the "Leadership Design & Performance" award.
Winners will be announced at Greenbuild Verona, at Verona Italy, in October 2015.
Green Building Council of Greece | Time for Action
The World Green Building Council is a network of national green building councils in more than one hundred countries, making it the world’s largest international organisation influencing the green building marketplace. The WorldGBC’s mission is to strengthen green building councils in member countries by championing their leadership and connecting them to a network of knowledge, inspiration and practical support.
It’s high time for the Green Building Council of Greece to develop, grow and participate in the dissemination of sustainability in the building sector.
Some of the major professionals of the sustainability sector in Greece, with DCarbon among them, strongly believe that the Green Building Council of Greece must develop dynamically and welcome all major stakeholders in an effort to maximize synergies and innovation in a very crucial sector, thus aligning with the global trends.

1st Forum for Sustainable
Buldings in Greece
DCarbon along with pioneer companies presented and discussed their experience for their certified sustainable buildings at the 1st Forum for Sustainable Buildings in Greece.
An invaluable and multifaceted presentation of the stakeholders experience assigned to different roles such as construction companies, developers, owners and users of BREEAM & LEED certified sustainable buildings took place at the Forum on October 18th, 2014.
1st LEED Platinum
1st LEED Public
In October 2014 Greece welcomed the first the LEED Platinum building which was completed under the sustainability management consulting of DCarbon. The Hellenic American Educational Foundation Preschool & Kindergarten was certified with LEED Platinum.
Accordingly this project has become a showcase of exemplary performance in sustainable design and construction. Using the LEED Rating System to guide the process from start to finish, the project team employed a variety of strategies to reduce energy and water use, create a healthy indoor environment, rationalize resource demand and implement innovative strategies.
n November 2014 the 1st public building in Greece to pursue LEED was certified with LEED Silver. The National Museum of Contemporary Art (NMCA) was the latest 2014 addition in the collection of LEED projects in Greece and has been managed by DCarbon.
New green building
in central Athens, GR
EREN Athens Offices has become the 2nd building in Greece to achieve LEED. The project development included the major renovation and conversion of an existing residential building to a modern office building achieving LEED silver. The project plot is in close proximity to the Athens Acropolis, one of the most important archaeological sites of the world.
